    Le grand-duc et tsarévitch Alexis Nikolaïevitch de Russie

    (Alekseï Nikolaïevitch Romanov,

    en russe : Алексей Николаевич Романов),

    né le 12 août 1904 (30 juillet du calendrier julien)

    à Peterhof et assassiné le 17 juillet 1918 à Ekaterinbourg,

    membre de la famille impériale de Russie,

    était le fils du tsar Nicolas II et de la tsarine Alexandra Feodorovna.

     

    Tsarevich Alexei Nikolayevich, 1904.   The name of the heir to the throne was not chosen by chance. It was also that of one of the first members of the Romanov dynasty, Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich (1645-1676), later known as ‘the unifier of Russia’. Nicholas told an acquaintance, ‘The tsarina and I have decided to call the heir Alexei; it’s time we broke with the series of Alexanders and Nicholases.’
